The pivotal moment in Luther’s life may have been when he tossed his letter of excommunication into the flames and had to rely on God alone for his protection. What have been the pivotal moments in your life thus far? Where was your faith at those times?
Friday Role Play:
Act out the scene on the cover. Martin stands at a bonfire, holding his “Bull of Excommunication” in hand. What should he do? One voice argues that he shouldn’t burn it. Another chants,“Burn it! Burn it!” What does Luther say? What should he do? Try to talk him out of it! Try to talk him into it!
