Scripture of the Week

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.  — Psalm 119:105

Nightly Challenge

Sunday Karaoke:

Highlight scripture in your Bible. Play the karaoke and sing along with the song. What words or phrases jump out at you? Why?

Monday Art Encounter:

What do you see in the image on the front page? Can you tell this part of Luther’s story?

Tuesday Catechism Encounter:

Luther thought of prayer as key to a healthy Christian life. Open your Small Catechism or go on line to the “Daily Prayers” section of Luther’s short book. Read and pray through the prayers together. What might using these short prayers in the morning, evening, and meal times do to help children, youth, families, singles and couples stay closer to God and to one another?

Thursday Question:

Before Luther’s Reformation, priests, monks and nuns were not allowed to marry. How do you think Luther’s life changed when he became a father? How do you think having children changes most people?

Friday Role Play:

Act out the scene on the cover. Luther is alone in his cell, looking out the window. Many good things have happened since he started his reform. The church is experiencing great freedom. People are reading the Bible for themselves. But the peasants have taken his words about freedom too far and are burning churches and castles. They are smashing statues and stained glass windows. The government is calling on him to support them in crushing the rebellion. What should he do?

Saturday Reflections:

What was your highest high this week? What was your lowest low? Thank and praise God for the highest high. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you with the lowest low. Close in Jesus’ name.

This Week’s Blessing
